This morning, I had one mission: to channel the energy of the baddest mofo of all time—Prince. And let me tell you, Let’s Go Crazy hit me like a thunderbolt. The beat, the guitar, those iconic words: "If the elevator tries to bring you down, go crazy, punch a higher floor!" It was exactly what I needed.
I felt a surge of clarity after dancing like no one was watching. Maria soon arrived from home, and we wandered around the hospital together, taking a detour outside to soak in the sunshine. The fresh air hit me, and I could feel it working its magic for a moment. That sun, man—it was like Kal-El-level rejuvenation. It felt so good on my skin, I would swear it was healing me.
The Plan Comes Together
Today wasn’t just about feeling good, though—it was about starting the plan. We sat down with my oncologist and nephrologist, laying out the blueprint for what’s ahead. The diagnosis is lymphoma. We’re still waiting on the specifics of what type, but we’re wasting no time. The first step is to repair my kidney to get ready for chemotherapy.
More meds, more blood draws, more IV drips - just remember bub, it's all part of the plan. Role with it, cherish each shot, pill, stab of a needle. Don't let it get you down, keep punching, keep getting up.
It’s a long road ahead, and I know it won’t always be a smooth one. There will be bad days—probably plenty of them. But today? Today was one for the books. Today was a good day. I’m holding onto that.
The Battle Cry
Prince wasn’t just playing in the background this morning; his energy set the tone. I hear him loud and clear: keep punching that higher floor. This isn’t a fight I’m walking away from. I’m optimistic. I’m ready. And as Captain America would say, “I can do this all day.”
So, yeah. Let’s go crazy. Let’s get through this. One song, one moment, one obstacle at a time.
Game on!
Evening Follow-Up
I just finished watching the Star Wars marathon on TBS—Episodes 4, 5, and 6, the classics! It was such a nostalgic experience revisiting those iconic moments and characters.
What made it even better was discovering that the young Medical Tech I spoke with is a huge fan of both Star Wars and Marvel Comics. We had such a fun and lively discussion about everything from favorite characters to epic storylines.
It was such a nice break from the usual medical talk here at the hospital, and it reminded me how shared interests like these can connect people from different walks of life!
